The word Godhuli means - cow + dust = 
Godhuli that rises from the feet of cows.  It is known that in the past, cows used to go to graze in the forest and come back in the evening.  That is why this special time is called Ghoduli time.  It means evening time.  

The cow has an important place in the worship of Indians. Indian's take care of  cows as mothers. The cow  has many divine qualities. There is divinity in cow and cow's milk. cows are not a milk donors. They are the source of national prosperity. There is nothing on earth as generous as a cow.The cow eats grass, leaves with medicinal properties. Cow's milk, and its products, cow urine, cow dung -  are all socially nutritious. 'Go-production' increases wealth. The cow is also known as the abode of wealth. In ancient times, cows were a measure of society's level of happiness and wealth. During the puja ceremonies, on the occasion of annadhanam, the cow was feed first."Let the cows be my mother.Indian cows can stand the negativity of normal weather.   Even if they are stuck in the sun and rain, they will be healthy.

In Hindu mythology, Kamadhenu is the most sacred Dhenu or cow. Gomata Sarvadevatas are standing there. That is why if you worship the cow, you will get the same results as if you worship all the gods. Puranas say that Kamadhenu is the origin of all cattle. Gods and demons used Adiseshu as a rope and churned the milky ocean for nectar. But in the churning of that milky ocean, Kamadhenu also emerges from the churning. This cow is also known as Surabhi. Puranas say that this Kamadhenu is the basis of all the livestock in the world. Kamadhenu is with Indra. In some legends it is seen in Vasishtha's house and in some legends it is seen with Gautama Muni. Kamadhenu granted Vashishta everything he needed for his penance. Kamadhenu's daughter is a cow called Sabala, and Kamadhenu's son is Nandi. In any myth, Kamadhenu has the glory of instantly granting whatever one desires.

According to the Ramayana, Rushi was Kasyapadu and his wife was Surabhi, the daughter of Krodhavasala. Two more daughters will be born to her. They are Rohini and Godavari. Puranas say that in this sequence Surabhi became Kamadhenu who fulfills her desires.
Indra appreciates sage Vasishta's sacrifices and gives him a cow named Shabala. Like Kamadhenu, it can give its owner whatever he wants.
According to Devi Bhagavatam, Lord Krishna himself created the Surabhi cow in Vrindavan...while dancing with the gopis in Vrindavan, suddenly Krishna became very thirsty. With this, Lord Krishna immediately created Surabhi and drank its milk.
But according to the Mahabharata... Devendra becomes impatient with the land sacrifice performed by sage Vasishtha. He creates droughts in that region. All the disciples in the ashram are suffering from hunger. Arundhati asks Goddess Parvati to grant her the power to satisfy the hunger of the children. Ammavaru Arundhati gave the cow to Kamadhenu, the glory of that mother is celebrated. Arundhati satisfies the hunger of everyone in the ashram.[2]
